Born from the ashes of fallen New Jersey band Sellout, Culture Inc. is determined to prove itself to be an important band in the present-day rock/indie scene. Founded by ex-Sellout members Don Ryan (vocals/guitar) and Juan Soaz (bass) and soon joined by John Tomaszewski (guitar) and Mike Lisa (drums), the band has made it a mission to successfully intertwine sounds that range from trippy to poppy to outright aggressive. “With this band, we wanted to try a lot of different kinds of sounds that you don’t always hear too often these days out there on popular radio,” said Don Ryan. “We are unapologetically poppy at times, but it might surprise some people in the scene how heavy we’re willing to get on occasion.”

Culture Inc.’s influences range from classic groups such as the Beatles to more modern acts like the Foo Fighters, Incubus, STP, and Alice In Chains, but the band makes it a special point to not wear these influences on its sleeve. Culture Inc. has set out to carve its own identity amongst the millions of trendy clones in this hideous fashion show that is the world of music and the band knows exactly where it begins and its influences end. Said vocalist/guitarist Don Ryan, “The bottom line is that we reserve the right to play whatever kind of music we want, whether that turns some people off or not. We’re not making music so that the ‘oh-so-important’ major labels will come running to us—we’re just doing this because we love it.”

One cannot contest the fact that while Culture Inc. is sincerely passionate and serious about what they do, they do not take themselves too seriously as people. Integrity and humility are what set this band apart (not to mention decent songs), and if you decide to come out to see Culture Inc. you’ll be guaranteed a good time.
